Nutshell CRM

Managing your contacts, leads, and opportunities can be a daunting task, but with choosing the right CRM can be a life saver.  Nutshell is a great CRM and in combination with WebMerge you can save your sales team countless hours.  In this example we’re going to show you how you can create a contract from a lead in Nutshell and automatically send it to your customer.

To get started we’re going to setup our contract template in WebMerge.  For this contract we’re going to build the template in Word.  Inside the template, we add merge tags like {$FirstName}, {$LastName}, and {$Company}.  These tags indicate where we want the Nutshell data to go.  Here’s what our contract looks like:

Now that our template is complete, we need to upload it to our WebMerge account.  From the Documents dashboard, click the New Document button, give it a name, then choose Office Document and browse for the file from your computer.

After the document has been generated, you can go through the Settings and Deliver tabs and modify any settings you’d like.  For this example we’re just going to send the document to our customer, so we need to modify the Email Delivery to go to the lead’s email address.  You can do this from the Deliver tab.

Great work!  Now we’re ready to setup the integration from Nutshell to WebMerge.  For this integration we’re going to use a service called Zapier.  Zapier allows you to easily connect 2 services via their API’s without any coding.

Inside Zapier, we’re going to setup a new Zap and select Nutshell as the trigger app and then WebMerge as the action app.  It will then ask us to authenticate our apps so Zapier can have the access they need.

Once we setup the authentication, our next step will be to pick the document that we just uploaded to WebMerge.  Zapier will then load a list of the merge fields that are in the template.  For each of these fields, we need to “map” them to the Nutshell fields like this:

After we have the fields mapped, we’re ready for a test run.  At the bottom of the page Zapier has a Test section where we can pull in sample data from Nutshell and send that to our WebMerge document.  Go ahead and run a few tests to make sure everything is working.  Here’s what one of our merged contracts looks like:

Congrats!  You can now generate contracts, quotes, proposals, and more right from your Nutshell account.  Can you think of other ways you can use WebMerge with Nutshell to make your life easier?
